Hello!
I haven't seen anything on this site about a Dixon ZTR Mower, I have a 2001 model 3303 30 inch cut with a 10.5 Briggs given to me. It cuts up a storm and is just what I need for the yard. I have lots of trees to mow around and inside the fence is about a half acre.

I Just wanted to see if any ou you have a Dixon. There are lots of them around this area and several nearby dealers.

We have had Dixon mowers for nearly 30 years. I have worked as a side line as a Certified Dixon Service Tech and have traded in Dixons for years also. Have two now and just sold a really nice one in Nov.

I bought the remaining parts inventory of a retiring dealer so have new and used parts if the need arises.

In the 4 years or so I have been on this site, there have been very, very few Dixon posts.

Thanks for the reply Walt, I will keep your name and address handy. I do my own work on everything I own but the Dixon Transaxle and cone clutches will be a challange, I intend to get a service manual, however they seem to be scarce as chicken molars. Please PM me your address for the parts if you don't mind. I do have your email address from your post.

I am posting this here because I want to test my re-installation of FireFox.

You have what is known as the "Zeeter" transaxle (unfortunately)
I have a VHS tape on repair of that plus I think I have a few pages on final adjustment.

There are several Dixons in the area with this same driveline on many of the Dixons that are 15 years old and they have not beeen a problem. one is at a neighbors place it has the control handles coming up from the center of the foot deck and the only problem it has had is the owner isn't mechanical and he can't get it to start because the battery is discharged or needs changing. many of them are rental units for the Dixon dealer a local hardware store. What should I keep an eye on and what should I not do that will damage the transaxle? Clean it with a power pressure washer or NOT? I don't worry too much since it was a freebee.

We have been in touch privately but I'll post this here in case someone else might be interested.

The reason I said unfortunately you have a Zeeter drive is because these are much harder to work one. Dixon Service people generally hate them. These were introduced around 1990 in the 30" and 36" models and finally in the 42" models at the end of 1997. These helped lead to the demise of Dixon in my opinion. Dixon got so much flak about them that they re-introduced the "Classic" drive in the 42" models for 2 - 3 years around 2001-? But by that time it was too late. Dixon blew their lead in ZTRs and now many companies were offering hydro drive ZTRs for around the same price, or even less, than Dixon's cone drive. Toro bought Dixon about 3 years ago you know, shutting down the factory and discharging ALL Dixon employees. While the name may still appear, they are built by Toro at their plant.

All cone drive Dixons that have the control handles coming in from the side will be "Zeeter" drive.

This one has the control bars coming in from the side. Question when you open the control bars out "for easy entry" duz this keep the Zeeter in neutral?
Can you tell what year the Dixon 3303 is from the number (DM30-62282) I don't think the mower has been used a lot. no dents scratches and the deck is unscathed. It had a bad battery, I used a Charger to start it, it fired right up after I turned the gas valve on and added a gallon of gas with a couple of oz. of Sea Foam mixed in. Next tank i will add some MMO

Yes and it should activate safety switches permitting it to start.

2000, strange you asked, I thought you said you knew and it was a 2001.
A check of the first 2 digits of the engine code number will tell the year it was mfg., might be the same or a year before date of mower.

Walt, I was told that "We think it is a 2001 mower, from our records." There is no titles for mowers or tractors in Texas that I know of.

I have a Dixon Zeeter 42. It's about a 2006 model. The only thing wrong with it is the deck hangers or L-Rods are missing.

Could someone post a pic of and tell me the actual size of the L-Rod for a Zeeter 42?

I appreciate any help.

My Dixon 3303 is a beast, the thing just won't die. Unfortunately the left side drive mechanism is starting to show some lag. I'm scared to mess with it. One other issue is....why did they make the front casters offset? The front tires sit at an angle. Just doesn't seem to make sense for ease of maneuverability.

That cone drive actually came from the Ram Industries zero turn mowers made in 1979 and 1980. I had posted some pictures of one that I repaired two years ago.

The Cone drive was featured in one of the magazines of the time which ran a contest to see who could come up with the best idea for incorporating it. The actual drive was donated by the inventor. The prize was the actual drive. The winner was a garden/lawn cart. Year - probably in the 60s I MAY even still have the article.

The Ram Co. was bought by Dixon Industries about 1974, Ram was not making mowers using this in 1979 - 1980.

I,m a newbe here so if I get this thread in the wrong place, someone please tell me. I have a Swisher ZTR 2250 that I'm having trouble with the blade belt popping off the motor pulley. Playing with the spring tension idler seems to have an effect on it but belt is too loose to cut anything heavy. tightening up the tensioner only makes the belt jump off immediately. the angle of the belt from the deck to the motor is fairly severe to my way of thinking. Anyone out thee have similiar problems?

Probably have better luck starting a new thread with title about your problem.

I'm near Ronkonkoma, NY. looking for a dealer to get parts and service. The left side is not working that great I think the cup is worn down. Is there still parts out there for this mower or do I just get ride of it. I like the mower but just wonder if it's worth keeping

AS far as I know, I am the only one currently offering advice on Dixon transaxles. I do have a few parts and have instructions for adjusting Dixon drives. Address below, put in proper format, remind me what you have and what you want as I get lots of requests.

I have a used 30" cut Dixon ZTR 3303, a 1997 I think. It has never driven right. With the handles in neutral and the brake released, the mower goes in a fast tight circle until the handles are brought in. It moves forward slowly and a little faster to the rear. It will only steer in one direction.

A local shop owner made me a copy of the 54 page transmission manual and let me make a drawing of his measurement gauge so I could make my own.

I replaced the rubber springs, both small sprockets and both short chains. I did the bench adjustments the best I could and the mower still does the same things. Playing with the adjustments makes little difference.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Harry

Walt, This is brodave again! A friend gave me a 2004 zeeter 30 that would not steer. Took it down and found broken adjustment rod. ordered couple new ones from bartzmower.com. Would like to buy what information you have to adjust and get going. I can make a DVD from VHS and be glad to make some for you also. I'll send the VHS back to you with DVD's. brodave
